Suimuikan Shurijo Castle Park Rest Center

Suimuikan, the information center of Shurijo Castle Park, offers space for exhibits and relaxation. The facility has a lobby, exhibition hall, information counter, restaurant, shops, parking, and more for the convenience of visitors. It also serves to provide some basic information before castle tours. The exhibition hall holds many educational items including models, panels and videos.

Shurijo Castle stretches 400 meters east-west and 200 meters north-south, over an approximate total area of five hectares atop a hill 120-130 meters high. From ancient Naha, the entire hill appeared to be covered by woods.

People considered the hills of Shurijo to be sacred, calling it Sui-mui' (Shurijo Forest). The name of the information center, Suimuikan, derives from this ancient term.
