Tropical Dream Center turns into “Orchid Palace”
The Okinawa International Orchid Show is an event where the best pieces of orchids from within and outside of Japan are gathered and exhibited all at once. It is the oldest international orchid show in Japan and counts 24th anniversary this year.
The orchid competition includes various categories such as potted plants, cut flowers, landscapes, and more. The Prime Minister Award is given to the grand champion, the best orchid of the show, as well as other minister awards to the most superior piece of each category.
Entries are not limited to Japan but also from oversea countries. Many entries from Southeast Asian countries include colorful Ascocenda, Renanthera, Vanda with large petals, etc. while many entries from Japan are of Paphiopedilum, Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, Cymbidium, Epidendrum, etc.
Rhy. gigantea has won a grand champion for the recent 3 years, however, winners are never predictable.
Three large orchid greenhouses in the Tropical Dream Center, the show venue, will be filled with the entry pieces and the sight is breathtaking.
Please join us on this occasion to explore the beautiful world of orchids.
