Sea Turtle Pool
Sea turtles that live in the sea around Okinawa can be observed from both above the surface and below the surface.
They can be observed underwater from the underground observation room. There is a sand pit created in the huge water tank for the purpose of laying eggs, where the turtles go ashore to lay eggs every year. It is said that there are 7 or 8 kinds of sea turtles around the world. Of them, the Sea Turtle Pool raises the Eretmochelys imbricata, Caretta caretta, Chelonia mydas, lepidochelys olivacea and Chelonia mydas agassizii.
Observation is free of charge. It is about a 9 minute walk from the Park Information Center (Haisai Plaza) to the Sea Turtle Pool. Transportation by trolley is available, but there is a fee.
