ヤナギニガナ

マレーシア系の常緑の多年草です。九州本土南部と琉球の渓流沿いの日当たりのよい湿った岩上に生育し、葉が水流を受け流すために柳の葉のように細長いのでこの名がありますが、台湾やマレーシアではむしろ高原の裸地に生え、琉球でも沖縄島北部の限られた場所では同様の環境に見られます。ダム建設により水没した自生地が多く、典型的なものはほとんど見られなくなりました。

An evergreen perennial of Malaysian origin.
In southern Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands, it grows on sunlit, moist rocks along streams. Its long, narrow leaves resemble willow leaves, an adaptation that allows water to flow past them. However, in Taiwan and Malaysia it is more commonly found on open upland ground, and similar habitats also occur in limited areas of northern Okinawa Island.
Many natural habitats have been lost due to dam construction, and typical forms are now rarely seen.
