オキナワセッコク

沖縄島北部に自生する固有種です。山地の自然林内の樹の幹などに着生するランで、白い大型の花を咲かせます。かつては自生地で普通に見られましたが、現在では園芸用の採集や自然林の伐採、ダム建設などのためにその数は非常に少なくなっています。

This epiphytic orchid grows on tree trunks in natural mountain forests and produces large white flowers. It was once commonly found in the wild, but its population has declined drastically due to overcollection for horticulture, logging of natural forests, and dam construction.
