ヤエヤマスミレ※現在展示は行っておりません

西表島の渓流環境に固有のスミレで、屋久島～沖縄島のヤクシマスミレに近縁です。石垣島と西表島の川の源流部にあるイシガキスミレから、涼しい渓流環境に適応して分化したものと考えられています。
This violet is endemic to the streamside environments of Iriomote Island and is closely related to Viola iwagawae Makino, which occurs from Yakushima to Okinawa Island. It is considered to have diverged through adaptation to the cool stream habitats from Viola tashiroi Makino var. tairae K.Nakaj., a taxon found in the headwaters of rivers on Ishigaki and Iriomote Islands.
