沖縄の林下ではよく見られるランの１種で、葉に縦にひだが出る点ではエビネのようですが、茎の下部は棒状に太くなって水を蓄える役目を果たします。
It is an orchid species commonly found on forest floors in Okinawa. While its leaves have longitudinal pleats reminiscent of those of Calanthe discolor Lindl., the lower part of the stem is thickened into a rod-like structure that functions to store water.
