サキシマハブカズラ

谷川の上流で木や岩崖によじのぼる常緑のつる植物で、若いうちは柄のない扁平な円い葉を岩や木の幹に密着させますが、成長すると長い柄の先に櫛の歯状に全裂した大きい葉をつけるように変化します。

An evergreen climbing plant that grows on trees and rocky cliffs along the upper reaches of mountain streams. When young, it has sessile, flattened, round leaves that adhere closely to rocks and tree trunks. As it matures, however, it develops large leaves that are deeply divided into comb-like segments and borne on long stalks.
