オキナワヒメナギリ

沢沿いの岩の上に大きな株をつくって生える多年草で、沖縄県の固有種です。最初は本土に生えるジングウスゲ（ヒメナキリスゲ）に近い仲間と考えられたので「沖縄のヒメナキリスゲ」を意味する名前がつきましたが、実際には琉球列島全域の山地に普通なコゴメスゲに近縁で、これが沖縄の渓流環境に適応して進化したものと考えられています。
準絶滅危惧（NT）
A perennial sedge that forms large clumps on rocks along streams. It is endemic to Okinawa Prefecture. It was initially thought to be closely related to Jingu-suge (Carex sacrosancta Honda), a species native to mainland Japan, and was therefore given a name meaning “Okinawan Jingu-suge.” In fact, however, it is closely related to Kogome-suge (Carex brunnea Thunb.), a common species found in mountainous areas throughout the Ryukyu Islands. It is thought to have evolved from this species through adaptation to the stream environments of Okinawa.
