The sacred site of worship just before the castle walls is called Suimui Utaki. According to Ryukyu Kaibyaku Shinwa (Ryukyu creation mythology), it is a sacred site created by a god. Including Suimui Utaki, there are ten worshipping sites within the castle grounds, referred to as Totake.

There are numerous songs, ballads, and poetry regarding Suimui Utaki in Omorosaushi, the oldest collection of Ryukyuan songs. The site was restored in December of 1997.
