The nibanza is a room with a Buddhist altar and known as a goryozen-no-ma. In Okinawa, a spirit tablet is known as [Totome] which originally means "precious person or thing". The incense burner is believed to act as a “medium in the ceremonial worship of gods and ancestors”.
