Private house that conveys the oldest hole house [Anaya] style
The private house that became the model of this building was built in the early Showa era, and it has inherited the oldest [Anaya] style houses. Before Ocean Expo, though it was located on a plateau that directly received the north wind in winter, it has survived as a private house for half a century.
The building consists of a main building and a kitchen, and the pillars at the four corners are made of coral limestone from the coast. The floor is low (board floor at that time). And the roof is a thatched roof made of small logs. The walls of both buildings are double chinib walls (bamboo walls) filled with grass, and the walls around the kitchen oven are made of coral limestone and the joints are filled with soil.
In Okinawa, there has been a kitchen garden [Ataiguwa] in the mansion where you can easily grow vegetables. Many kinds of traditional local vegetables such as bitter gourd, Ixeris [Nigana] (Hosobawadan), and yellow daikon radish [Chidekuni] (yellow carrots grown in Okinawa) can be harvested in the garden throughout the four seasons, and they are the source of health and longevity that can be served on a dining table.
