Traditional Okinawa Village and Omoro Arboretum
Kami-asagi
Sacred place where the guardian deity of the village community is enshrined
There is an open space called “Kami-asagi” located close to Utakis for inviting guardian deity and holding festivals, but it is becoming popular in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa to build shanty-style buildings with low eaves and no walls or floors in these open spaces. It is a place where priestesses pray to Utaki, sing songs for god, and serve sacred sake.
